What Is a No Index No Follow Meta Tag?

A no index no follow meta tag prevents a page from appearing in search engine results. It does so by preventing the search engines from passing link equity through the links. This meta tag is also called a disallow directive. It is often used for privacy or technical reasons. However, it is important to use it correctly.

Disallow directive

Disallowing a page from search engine indexing is one way to keep duplicate content from appearing on your website. It is important to avoid this practice because Google penalizes websites with duplicate content. However, it is essential to note that the “follow” meta tag allows users to follow links on nonindexed pages. In addition, many content management systems automatically create archive pages. Therefore, disabling a page from indexing can have devastating consequences for your SEO tactics and traffic.

A noindex meta tag tells search engines not to include a page in their index. It also tells them not to index any of the links on your page. This is useful if your page does not have any SEO value. A disallow directive can also be used to prevent search engines from showing the text snippet from the meta description or the video preview on a page.

The noindex directive carries a lot of weight. Once a page is no-indexed, search engines remove it, making it difficult to re-index it. However, it is possible to have a disallowed page appear in the index if it is found via external links.

Noindex

Regular expressions
